As hundreds of youth teams go to work in the playoff brackets at Session 1 of the Omaha SlumpBuster, a wide geographic mix of clubs is dialing into Championship Day on Sunday fueled by dreams of heading home with a title.
In the 14u Division, upsets rumbled through the action Saturday. Sunday’s first semifinal in the Platinum bracket features Complete Game (Aiken, SC) taking on USA Prime Prodigy Legends (Lincoln, NE). Complete Game was the No. 7 seed of the 16 teams after pool play, while USA Prime shocked the field from the No. 14 spot. The other semifinal pits No. 9 Flyin’ Hawaiian Baseball (Las Vegas, NV) versus No. 12 West Fargo Rattlers (Fargo, ND).
At 13u Platinum, only one team seeded to reach the semifinals made the cut, as No. 2 Canes Midwest National (Westfield, IN) will face No. 11 HD Drillers (Apple Valley, CA). It’s No. 9 MASH Black 2025 (Savage, MN) versus Pittsburgh Outlaws Orange (Bulger, PA) in the other semifinal.
The 12u D1 mix authored up another shocker Saturday as No. 16 North Texas Fury Elite (Wylie, TX) took down the top seed, scored 14 runs in the quarterfinal and is ready for No. 4 Oklahoma Bucks (Tulsa, OK) in the semis. On the other side, it’s No. 2 Nebraska Prospects 2031 (Omaha, NE) against No. 11 Bryant Black Sox (Benton, AR).
The 11u D1 semis feature No. 8 Texas Cubs-Powers (Robston, TX) and the No. 4 Liberty Lightning Purple (Coralville, IA); that winner takes on either No. 10 SD Stars-Riley (Murrieta, CA) or No. 11 Aces Baseball Club-Mayo (Auburn, CA).
At 10u D1, No. 1 Cedar Rapids Reds (Cedar Rapids, IA) meets No. 5 Gretna Gold (Omaha, NE); then it’s No. 2 Diamond Kings (Gilbert, AZ) and No. 3 Banditos Hudson (Magnolia, TX).
In the 9u D1 bracket, Arizona Elite Academy (Phoenix, AZ) is in the final, and they face either Millard United Elite or Omaha Suburban Show, both out of Omaha.
