The Aggieland Challenge is NOT a Stay to Play event. However, the tournament is greatly helped with every room booked through our discounted lodging partners. If your team needs lodging, please consider using our partners and taking advantage of our lodging program.
Important - Pool Scheduling. The philosophy in this tournament is UNIQUE COMPETITION. That is our priority in scheduling this open tournament. You may receive a tough draw or an easy path, we focus on unique opponents and not your division of play. Know that before you register!
Important to note - we are not a sanctioning body. Meaning, you do not have to pay any sanctioning fees, use our specific insurance, or anything along those lines. To pencil or pay you do need to create a free account and team in our system, but there is no cost to do so.
This event will sell out! Make sure to register early. Penciling in DOES NOT gurantee your spot - only a paid entry will
3-game minimum. All teams will advance to a single-elimination playoff bracket. Top seeds get to select their opponent for the first round of bracket play. *Format subject to change based off team numbers, facilities, and weather conditions.

Team Mom Home Run Derby - Time for the Mom's to shine! Gather the whole team to cheer on the backbone of the season! 2 minute rounds per person with a coach throwing BP. Total home runs will go toward the team skills total. One team mom per team
Team Relay Race - Pass the BATon! Teams will have a mini bat as a baton and will need to run 2 bases before handing off to their teammate. 8 total players will participate - 4 start at home and 4 start at second base. Each team gets 2 chances to set the mark!
All 9 Challenge - All nine position players and their coach will participate in a competition that measures a team’s ability to hit the cut-off man and throw the ball around the infield. Each player must touch the ball by following the designated throwing sequence, described in the illustration below.
The pitcher is the only position player that is not required to touch the baseball. However, the pitcher will play a pivotal role in backing up any over-throws encountered during play. In the event of an over throw, the pitching position is allowed to retrieve the ball and return it to play by throwing it back to the mis-throw’s designated target position.
- The contest begins with a coach hitting a ball from home plate towards the left fielder.
- The left fielder then throws the ball towards home, hitting the cut-off man, and initiating the throwing cycle.
- Time will start once the coach makes contact with the ball. It will stop after the catcher retrieves the throw from the first baseman and swipes home plate with the ball in his glove.
- Teams will have two attempts to record their lowest time. The team with the single lowest time will receive the most points. THROWING SEQUENCE Coach Hits Ball --> Left Fielder --> 3rd Baseman --> Center Fielder --> 2nd Baseman --> Short Stop --> Right Fielder --> 1st Baseman --> Catcher (Home Plate)
Teams who choose to not show up to the bracket selection will forfeit their right to choose an opponent. They will be slotted into their Seeded Spot and play a team who did not get chosen
The format consists of 2 pool play games into a single elimination bracket. Depending on division size, there may be more than one bracket per age group/division. Teams will play 2 pool play games on Saturday followed by a single elimination bracket on Sunday
What makes the Challenge Format different is that the top seeds get to pick who they play against in their first round of bracket games. In brackets that feature a Play In Game, their will be a "draft" pick for matchups. The one seed does not have to pick to play the 8 seed, they can play anybody they feel they match up the best against. After the one seed has picked their matchup, then the next best seed gets to pick, then the next, and so on until every team has a matchup. New this year - no protected seeds! Due to us having to split divisions with travel times, brackets are smaller than normal. Therefore we will not have protected seeds.
In the case where the one seed gets a buy, creating a "play in game" then we will have a draft. So instead of the 1 seed having control to pick essentially the entire bracket, they will select one opponent in the play in, then the 2 seed selects their opponent, then back to the 1 seed.
The top seed in each bracket. We are not having protected seeds for undefeated teams in the 2025 Aggieland Challenge. The top seed has the power to choose any opponent in the bracket.
There may be history between two teams, unfinished business, or just a familiarity that you want to see. It’s possible a team pitched their best in pool play and doesn’t have a lot of arms left, so you want to play against them instead of the team that saved their ace for Sunday. This helps ensure that teams give it their all on pool play to achieve a better position. There’s real incentive to compete on Saturday. One of the biggest points of feedback from coaches is that we need to find a way to make pool play matter more! This format does that.
Selections will be made in a timely manner during the bracket selection and Skills Competition on Saturday evening.
Playoff brackets will be posted on Saturday evening in a timely manner after the selections have taken place. It takes roughly an hour after the last selection is made to update the brackets

Division 1: Our top competitive level, which you will see listed simply as 9u, 10u, and so on. This is our most competitive division which includes “Select / Elite” teams and is also open to any team that wants to compete.
Division 2: When you see Division 2 (or D2) after the age group, that indicates a bracket designed for teams that are not yet ready to compete with top teams. Division 2 is similar to the second-tier divisions you see in national sanctioning organizations. However, even if you are sanctioned as a lower team by a national sanctioning body, that does not guarantee you will play Division 2 with Triple Crown.
Division 3: Includes teams that are less competitive than Division 2 teams. Here is how Triple Crown compares with other sanctioning bodies. However, we always encourage teams to play up.
Division 1= Major or National
Division 2= AAA or American
Division 3= AA or Minor (Not offered in Colorado)
No, being penciled-in shows that your team is interested in attending. Only a paid registration in full guarantees your spot into the event. Triple Crown will attempt to reach out to teams as divisions are close to selling out but that does not always happen. It is the team’s responsibility to pay before the division is sold out
Whomever has access to your team's Triple Crown Account can log in and click on the roster tab. Add all the players names and birthdates with the parent contact information (name, number and email). Once the roster is complete, click the “Send Parent Authorization” button and it will send out the digital waivers to the parents to sign allowing their son/daughter to participate in the event. Any player that does not have the parent waiver signed, will not be allowed to participate.
